I’m SO excited to share this one. I had never heard of reishi before going down this rabbit hole and holy SMOKES I’m so glad I’ve learned because I AM HOOKED!
Coffee has been my favorite drink and favorite part of my day for as long as I can remember. I LOVE coffee. One of my favorite bloggers and mentor bloggers (unbeknownst to her) is Shannon Leparski, owner of The Glowing Fridge, author of many beautiful vegan hormone balancing books.
I happened to see a few posts of Shannon’s where she was sharing this beautiful-looking coffee from her home! I’m a huge sucker for a yummy cup of coffee and hers just looked divine. She was raving about it having all of these “healing properties” which is kind of contradictory to what you see in the health community. Coffee typically gets a bad rep especially with anyone who has IBD or stomach issues. It can cause jitters, anxiety, energy crashes, blood sugar spikes, migraines, etc.
Begining King Coffee May 15th, 2021
I drink two cups of coffee per day. It’s been my routine since I was about 16. My first job was in a coffee shop and I fell in love with it then. Coffee is a culture. A coffee shop is a culture. The SMELL is just what awakens my soul every morning. As of May 15th, I no longer used regular coffee. Only King Coffee, 2x per day. Once in the morning, and once in the afternoon for ONE month then the plan was to decide if I wanted to continue to sell and educate or go back to my regular non-reishi coffee.
I noticed different things at different times. But pretty much after the first 1-2 cups I noticed an immediate difference in how my body felt. The energy was different. It wasn’t so much that racing, punch in the face jolt of energy coffee gives me, followed with shakes and jitters. King coffee was instantly a different experience than that. Kind of a “at the beach with my friends all day” natural high energy.
What Did I Notice Immediately? (Within first 3 days)
- A cleaner, more gentle feeling energy that lasted much longer.
- Zero crash
- Baseline anxiety was less than normal
- No jitters in the afternoon! Never effected me after my morning cup, but almost every afternoon id have caffine shakes and I just attributed it to my addiction to caffine (I only have two cups per day, never more – but my body TELLS ME if I’ve forgotten one of the two) and my anxiety.
- NO JITTERS. Yes I know I just said that. But F*CK!!!! I was so pumped about this! As a hairdresser this is life changing!
- Skin was glowy, and clear! Any irritation or spots cleared up almost immediately
- Mood was enhanced!
What Did I Notice Within The First 7-10 Days
- I began this journey on May 15th, I started my period on the 31st – the classic pms symptoms I’ve had since I was about 15 was extreme breast tenderness, irritability, cramping, general unhappy mood, emotional, less patient. THIS cycle was very different, nothing like my normal. I had MILD breast soreness, nothing like my typical cycles. MUCH better mood.
- My skin looks amazing!
- Overall in a better mood
- Baseline anxiety MUCH less than my typical
- Day I started my period I had very little signs or symptoms at all.
- ZERO jitters in the afternoon. NO shakey hands. NO intense need to eat something to regulate my sugar and energy
- An intense pull back to my yoga mat, especially to stay put after moving around a little bit. They say reishi is the spiritual mushroom, and its interesting I’ve found myself drawn to just being in that moment, light meditation if you will. Giving my body and my mind a time out, letting them wander where they want.
- I found myself actually SO excited to drink King Coffee. Its become my favorite part of my day and I cant imagine my life without it. I’ll never EVER be without it!
How Did I Feel 10-20 Days Into King Coffee?
My skin is GLOWING. I haven’t had ONE breakout since I’ve switched to King. I WILL NEVER GO BACK! The no jitters is absolutely life changing for me. My mood has been
- MY SKIN IS GLOWING!!!
- Baseline anxiety is cut in half if not more
- My IBS has calmed down to little to no symptoms at all, no need for bathroom panicking at the salon thank god!
- I don’t feel EXHAUSTED at the end of my shift, rather “just on to the next thing” much much more sustainable energy.
- Mediation has become a routine part of my days again. Thank you to the spiritual side effects of reishi.
- My cycle this month was SO much less painful than it typically can be. Period lasted 2 days, little to no cramping, it was lighter than usual, and my PMS symptoms weren’t nearly as bad – especially the breast tenderness! Excited to see month two!
- I feel calmer overall. I guess this goes hand in hand with my anxiety but to me, the two can be different.
