My journey to vegan meatballs starts here.
I grew up Italian. Every Christmas Eve we would have a huge pasta, homemade red sauce, meatball – FEAST. This one meal I looked forward to every year, as it was the only holiday we ate pasta! Aside from my birthday, per request by yours truly.
Going vegan is and will always be the best decision I’ve ever made. But that doesn’t mean it was easy, or that I still don’t miss certain foods. I never liked meat, ever. BUT my mom’s homemade meatballs I loved. She would fry them and the whole house would smell amazing.
If I was ever at work or at school when she was making them she would save some fried meatballs for me before putting them into her sauce. THE best.
Those meatballs were something I couldn’t quite replicate. I never really LOVED any other meatballs even before going vegan – just my moms! So vegan meatballs were a whole new world to me.
My tried and true has forever and always been Gardein. I love those for a quick and easy no-fuss dinner. BUT I have a picky thing for fennel. I’m not a huge fan of the flavor it gives and Gardein does use it, but it’s tolerable for me. Until NOW.
This recipe kicks ass guys. Plain and simple. Kicks VEGAN ass.

These vegan meatballs will freeze well also, so for those of you who like to meal prep, I would probably double this recipe and just bang out a whole bunch of meals to pop in the freezer!
Ideas are endless! You could put these with BBQ sauce during football season, or stick with the Italian vibe like we are here! Enjoy a meatball sandwich with leftovers!
